Helping a leading transport city to respond to COVID-19
It's fair to say that COVID-19 has side-swiped transport planning. Local authorities across the world are trying to understand what changes resulting from the pandemic could be permanent, what are fleeting, and how these changes should affect the decisions being made on transport in the coming years.
Nottingham has not been afraid to make the tough decisions. It has expanded its tram network, and implemented a workplace parking levy within the city. It also has bold plans to be the first net zero city in the UK. Now, it is working with us to understand the current situation could mean for their forthcoming Local Transport Plan.
They approached us with a simple offer. Work in partnership with us and with local stakeholders to co-create a range of future transport scenarios for Nottingham. Then, we can create a truly meaningful Local Transport Plan.
We are currently scanning for trends, setting out a system map for how change happens in Nottingham, and working with them to build up the evidence base on the future. We are planning to hold a variety of future scenario co-creation sessions with the City Council and with external stakeholders too.
